Vacation on Planet Earth #5051

Vacation on Planet Earth

This Sunday my six year old took a picture with a monkey at the Colorado State fair.  Couldn’t tell which one was the monkey.

The day before we sat at twilight on the patio of a hotel near an open fire watching the bats fly like half-crazed wannabe birds.

We finally ended up in Manitou Springs, at another festival at dusk watching mountain men play dulcimers and sing to crowds of people with dogs, children and late Sunday smiles.

Every day in Colorado is a vacation.  What about you. Where do you live? What fun things do you need to see, where the tourists hang out and you haven’t been there for years, or secret places that the locals won’t even let the visitors from faraway lands know about, like 10 waterfalls just off the side roads of Eldora?

Life is pure fun, if you but take some moments to define the parameters of your perfect life living with or without you.

Things, storefronts, businesses outlive you, your siblings, your ancestors…so skip, fly, love, be kind to the world that is happy and light-footed on the surreal celebrations and fairs, the wonder-filled summer festivals, after dark in some micro brewery with Grateful Dead impersonators playing sweet music as the children and the drunk parents dance and hula-hoop on the patio as the slight cool wind of a coming fall calls in the next season.

Take a vacation every day, every week.  Find the undiscovered festivals, brats on the BBQ, loving people swinging in the parks of a child’s monkey dreams and dog-petting days, where all you have to do is enjoy the perfections perfecting, the suns setting and the music whaling along the dedication to your own brand of dreams that swell behind the floodgates of your most acknowledged imagination.

See you soon along the azure plains, at the foot of Pike’s Peak, on some lazy street where the dreamers gather…on the fringe, to celebrate this awe near inspiring perfect vacation on planet earth.
