Sailing out of Disneyland

Sailing out of Disneyland

Are you purposeful?  Look at the edges of your innate perceptions.  Look toward the quivering horizons, all things bundled up, loaded like dice in Las Vegas, a new day, a slight of hand away.

Get on Route 66 and drive like a madman through Kingman. Take a long look up to the stars and listen, wonder, see the aliens in the wide-opened high desert.

What have you done so far with your life?  What will you do now?  Can you climb off this stage of mediocrity and scream, rehearse your lines, believe like Jiminy Cricket, “When your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme.”

Drive right out of San Bernardino, to Disneyland where the fog rolls in right around dark, and the pirate ship tries to get out of the artificial lake, sailing toward Atlantis after midnight, toward your dreams that have a hankering for more, for a quick stop in Moorea, right past Tahiti where the night skies turn upside down and inside out…appearing so incredibly different than in Canada.

But, again, are you filled with purpose?  A clear road up ahead, a new head from the mid sixties, where they really did have more than a few enlightening perceptions now lost to technology and more wars and tightly wrapped candy bars and politicians.

But not you…you stayed the course, you lived the dream, you are a bandit likened to Robin Hood…stealing the daylights out of those who drift.

Do you still want to be a drifter, a watcher of news, a clause in an implausible contract between you and world…for as Franz Kafka once said, “In a fight between you and the world, I bet on the world.”

Now that was loosely translated from German. I think he really meant, don’t fight the world, fight for what is right, like an idea that grows pregnant in your fertile mind.  Fight for a reason to create magnanimity, coupled together like truth and beauty in the ring of fire, like a clear view, a direct line to God who leaves trails and clues in the sky, the aurora borealis, or sunsets aglow, or shooting stars, or Venus tucked next to Jupiter on some lit-up, full-moon night.

Back to the original question: Are you filled with purpose these days?  Are you on target to hit a target that wasn’t there in the fine year of 2012?  Are you filled with the energies of the proverbial 10,000 things, a ploy from space, a direction given in a dream, sometime around 4a while the person next to you was snoring up a storm?

Find what you love to do.  Find what will titillate, scintillate and gyrate on the fringes of tomorrow, for this is your first step toward your destiny; this is your life that has a lot of living yet to do…this is a malleable universe that gives you everything, yes every single thing that you have the balls, the inner entrails to embrace, believe in, to go for, to risk it all with the perfect mix of intelligence and happenstance.

Be of purpose, where meaning is a self-created new language, where time stops and curls up on a ledge, near the window sill of winter’s discontent, until con-tent is content, where you sprint, glee, joyride, jump, rummage through the attic of ancient jewels, where the lady of lake gives you the sword, where dragonflies and fireflies and St. Elmo’s Fire torch up your well-painted imagination, until you see that purpose on the verge, on the fringe of eternity, where there is a comingling, a bewilderment, a mystery to contemplate.

Dream your dream.  Be the passion that has been fighting the world to get out.  Be the forager of right, of delight for you are alive to be of purpose, to gather enough strength and wisdom and resolve to create massive results not because it is a new year, not because you were told to, or you are following the hand-scribbled notes of Andrew Carnegie, but because it feels right, and you finally have put pen to paper, drawn out a map, a plan…and now you stand for something…like a desire that burns in your soul.

Do this.  Read this again, for the meaning behind it all can change water into wine, silver into gold, and a stilted life into a masterpiece to behold.
