10,000 Feet of Beauty

10,000 Feet of Beauty

Have you ever woke up to the perfect dawn, looked out a window to see snow-capped mountains covered in sun?

What is there everywhere, that you, in your mood, in your next moment, can appreciate…and is that not the beauty that abounds?  And it is not just at 10,000 feet on some almost New Year’s morning, but it is in every land, in every country, in the skies up above, over you, where ever you fare?

Not only this perfect day, look for the beauty, but engage it, sense it, become it, relish, appreciate it, admire it, dig in and realize it…as it hovers over you as the full moon sets, the sun rises, the frigid trees stand tall.

Ok, just for fun, where am I?  It is the 29th of December in the toon-town, the snow-covered village of Breckenridge, Colorado.

I opened the curtains on the deck, and miles away are huge mountains, covered in snow…covered in morning sun…and I just checked the temperature on my phone and it is seven, yes, seven below zero, real feel of 20 below…even the cold has a snapping, in-your-face kind of beauty.

If we, you and me, the celebrities, news casters, the snowplow drivers, the service people, the millionaires sipping cappuccinos on the decorated streets, if the politicians trying so desperately to balance the US budget, if everyone, in every state, in every country, just paused, just looked without to witness the cosmic beauty, the stillness, the sun casting shadows, the glee of children, the smoke spiraling up from the lone cabin on the hill, if we as a nation, a planet, a world, a universe, but momentarily stopped, and looked, and took in the beauty that surrounds us all…could that slight moment in silence change the way you believe, you see your neighbors and neighborhoods, change the wars, the strife, the ugly parts of what so many choose to see and participate in?

Use, become, envelop and let the beauty that is everywhere, every-when, dig deep into your soul, and let it out, reach out, encircle the globe, touch all that you do, add a modicum of peace and contentment and beauty.  Let it fill your heart and soul with truth, and a semblance of what is meaningful…would we not then change the world, create such a stillness of pure higher energy, that it could and would change the minds and hearts of all people, how they show up on this very day.

Embrace the perfection and beauty, and behold how it will and can raise the sorrow, heightened the joy, instill the bliss that is there for you and every creature on this magical and wonderful planet that has riches beyond the imagination to see.

Everything you need is right here, is hoping you will catch a glimpse, is surging through the frigid mountaintops, in the Christmas-lit shops, in the skies of wonder that keeps humankind filled with love and hope and perplexity and mystery that unfolds to the mind willing and wishing and wanting to see clearly what this life is really all about.
